It proved to be a good week for Cheshire in terms of national
exposure which started with the weekend's edition of Scouting Plus
which featured a picture of Daniel Lewis, an Explorer Scout in Mid
Cheshire on the front page. Daniel had been present at the Scouting
Ambassadors event organised by Gilwell.
On Tuesday morning Tony Warburton, former DC in Warrington was
interviewed on the Chris Evans breakfast show on Radio Two talking
about Warrington Gang Show. This followed a discussion the previous
day in which Chris Evans has been talking about the newly announced
version of Scout Job Week which will take place in May next year.
Chris, of course is from the Warrington area and was able to
reminisce with Tony about his time in Scouting in Warrington.
Towards the end of the week I got the opportunity to have a look
at some of the material around the new version of the old Scout
bob-a-job week, which is a combination of a community project, fund
raising locally and an element of supporting the Development Grants
Board (DGB) at Gilwell. If you search through the documents
you will find one example of how the DGB supported a group in
Cheshire where some Scouts were supported to attend last Chamboree
2010.
