Christmas Message from the CC

Message from the County Commissioner

2015 has certainly been a busy year with some significant changes and key amongst these changes has been the re-launch of the 6 - 18 programme. This is key to retaining young people in their last 12 months in each section and I am encouraged by the positive way many Leaders have embraced the revised programme.

In the summer Cheshire had representation in three of the 75 units that went to the Jamboree in Japan. That was 6 patrols of young people and 6 Leaders from Cheshire taking part in this amazing event. The pictures and videos from the Jamboree tell their own story clearly they all had a fantastic time.

In July we launced our own magazine full of local news from around the County. It was published electronically and a limited print run was posted to a selection of adult Leaders. The next edition is due out in January.

In October we organised our first County Charity Race to support "out" in Scouting, aimed at encouraging more outdoor Scouting. This will be followed by a County winter camp in January.

All of these "extra" activities complimented the annual programme of opportunities to show Scouting at its best with things like Cheshire Hike, supporting Cheshire Show and Carfest. I also know that many of you have been busy supporting both District and Group activities.

We have made great progress in bringing a youth focus to Scouting in Cheshire with the appointment of a County Youth Commissioner and many Districts have either appointed their District Youth Commissioner or in the process of recruiting one.

Thank you for your help and support, together we are making a real difference.

I really hope that you, your family and friends have a fantastic Christmas and I wish you every success for 2016.
