All 3 units containing Scouts/Guides from Cheshire
have now safely arrived in Copenhagen. All their flights left
within around 10 minutes of their scheduled departure times.
Jon's unit who left on Sunday afternoon have spent Monday in
Copenhagen where they describe the weather as "OK". Amongst other
things they have been on speedboats this morning and in Tivoli
Gardens this afternoon, which they report had lots of big
rides; the gardens are really nice, even better at night with the
light shows. Reports suggest that most of them spent their food
vouchers today on burgers! However by 9:45 they were all so tired
they gave up and went back to the hostel.
They met up with Luke Morby (Consolidated Unit who flew out
today) they had a little excitement when the airline lost Emma
Quicks bag; luckily it turned up a few hours later so everybody is
happy but tired. Not surprising when they had to be at the airport
at 4am this morning (Monday)!
They have now joined 4,500 members of the UK contingent
preparing for the Jamboree, they are staying in 9 hostel/hotels and
can look forward to more activities on Tuesday followed by the UK
Contingent party with a surprise guest which is being kept very
secret.
On Wednesday the whole UK contingent will travel in a fleet of
coaches to the Jamboree site in Sweden with the official opening
ceremony on Thursday.
The adventure of a lifetime has begun.
