  • Windsor honour for Queen's Scouts

    HM The Queen and Bear Grylls greeted a large contingent of Cheshire Queen's Scouts as well as more than 600 others from across the UK and The Commonwealth at Windsor Castle on Sunday.   he event comes at a boom time for Scouting following last week's announcement of the Movement's continued membership. Read more

  • Cheshire numbers on the rise yet again

    The number of young people taking part in Scouting in Cheshire has risen yet again. The census figures for 2011 have just been released and the County has seen its total membership rise by 3.8% from 2010. In total some 11,626 people are involved in Scouting in the county - almost 1,000 more than were members just three years ago. Read more

  • 46th Cheshire Hike a success

    For full County and District results and a video from this year's event, click here. More than 700 young people covered a total of 30,000km this weekend as the Cheshire Scouts' annual Hike competition took place across the county's lanes and footpaths. Read more

  • Cheshire Cat's Indian adventure

    The Cheshire Challenge cat mascot has already clocked up several thousand miles - thanks to the efforts of a Warrington group's trip to India. Summer may be the key months for the Cheshire Cat to get out and about and rack up some Challenge points, but Sandra Knight, Caroline Keavey, Rebekkah Quarrie and Karin Quarrie have ensured this is now one well-travelled feline. Read more

  • Alderley beats the bounds

    A traditional `beating the bounds' ceremony has taken place in Alderley Scout District to help mark its centenary celebrations. The challenge was to walk the District Flags from Handforth in the north and Holmes Chapel in the South to Alderley Edge where Scouting first started in the area. Read more

  • Cub Scout Craft Competition Winners

    Saturday's winners of the coveted trophy: 1st - Macclesfield & Congleton 2nd - Mersey Weaver 3rd - Chester & District 100% turnout for this year's County Cub Scout Craft Competition with all 10 Districts competing. The Cub Scouts had to make an RAF Search & Rescue yellow helicopter, like the one Prince William flies. Read more

  • Roverway contingent camp in the snow

    Cheshire's Roverway participants found conditions appropriate to their 2012 destination when they attended the first briefing weekend at Gilwell. Six inches of snow greeted campers who will be making the trip to Finland between July 20th and 28th later this year. Read more

  • Cheshire aids wells project

    Cheshire Scouts have helped bring fresh drinking water to one of the poorest regions of Africa. The Scouts have formed a partnership with Cheshire-based charity, Lubwe (Zambia) Fund, to raise money to provide wells for clean water. At the county's international camp, Chamboree 2010, more than 3,000 Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers took part in a series of activities aimed at raising awareness on global issues including the need for more clean water supplies. Read more
