James Hurrell - Group Scout
As Group Scout Leader, James has been rebuilding 17th Warrington
East after a decline in leaders and youth members. By forging links
with other organisations in the local community, he's secured
support and funding for the Group, and organised volunteering
opportunities for the young people he supports through

Cheshire Cub Scouts have celebrated their 100th
birthday with The Wildest Party Ever.
Almost 2,000 people attended a weekend camp at Capesthorne Hall
- the home of Cheshire Scouts' President, Sir William
Bromley-Davenport - to mark the 100th anniversary of the
founding of the Cub section in the Scout movement. Read more
More than threequarters of million miles have been walked across
the countryside over the years by competitors in the Cheshire Hike,
and this year marked the 50th staging of the event which
tests the core outdoor skills of Scouts and Guides.
Hundreds of teams compete in pairs across four age groups,
knowing nothing of the routes or terrain that awaits them until
they ae are given their map co-ordinates at their respective starts
on the first morning. Read more

scouting and youth involvement in the county.
So here's a few ideas from me to get you going:
1) Plan and run your section
It's great to celebrate anything and everything! So why not get
your section members to plan and even run this?
You can give them the requirements and let them think about what

Ed Lunnon is Cheshire Scouts first Youth Commissioner
We are delighted to announce that Ed Lunnon, 18 from
Knutsford has been appointed as County Youth Commissioner with
effect from 26 October 2015. Read more
The County has launched its own glossy magazine, the
first issue of which is currently being sent out to leaders. It's
an opportunity for us to celebrate the outstanding work going on
across Cheshire and also to speak to inspirational individuals like
our cover star, TV presenter Helen Skelton who talks about the
adventures she has undertaken. Read more
We are looking for a young person (aged 18-25) who has the
passion and drive to help us ensure youth engagement is embedded
into all aspects of Scouting in Cheshire.
