The next hillwalking training and assessment weekend is set for the 2nd and 3rd of October 2021.

This is aimed at those wishing to gain permits for T1 and T2 terrain, but also those who wish to improve their navigation confidence in T0.

Dates, Venue and Timings

This year due to Covid restrictions we are unable to use the facilities at Yr Hafod Scout Hostel, instead we are asking people to make their own accommodation & meal arrangements.

The start time of the course is 12.00 on the Saturday until 21.30 (including a night navigation element) and then 09.00 until 17.00 on the Sunday. The meeting point will still be Yr Hafod Scout Hostel, Near Idwall Cottage YHA, Llyn Ogwen on the A5 from Bethesda to Capel Curig.  Map Ref SH644604.

Virtual Session

To reduce physical contact on the day, we will be organising a briefing session for those attending training and a theory session (2 hour maximum) for those attending assessment. This will take place approximately two weeks prior to the course via Teams, exact date to be confirmed. Attendance of these sessions are pre-requisites of successful completion of the training or assessment.

Equipment List

The course will be undertaken completely outdoors and participants will need to ensure that they are properly equipped for two long hill days. A full kit list will be sent out prior to attendance of the course. Please get in contact with any queries in relation to equipment.
