What’s the qualification all about?

This BTEC Level 2 qualification, equivalent to two GCSEs, focuses on key skills like teamwork, communication, leadership, and employment readiness. Accredited by Pearson, the programme is delivered by Cadet Vocational College through a mix of online and face-to-face sessions. Participants will benefit from an internationally recognised award that enhances CVs, supports applications for further education, and boosts employability.

For Cheshire Scouts members, this qualification is offered free of charge, subject to basic eligibility criteria.

What will I learn?

The BTEC programme integrates your Scouting experiences into a recognised qualification. Topics include:

  • Teamwork and communication skills
  • Leadership and citizenship
  • Health and fitness
  • Adventurous activities and land navigation
  • Preparing for employment and volunteering
How can I achieve a BTEC?

Scouts can use prior experiences—such as the Duke of Edinburgh Award, Cheshire Hike, and the Young Leaders Scheme—to fulfill many BTEC modules. Additional practical challenges will be incorporated into balanced Unit or Network programmes, alongside mandatory workbook tasks.

Am I eligible to take part?

To enrol, you must be 16 or older before 31 August 2024.

Don’t miss this opportunity to start your journey towards a BTEC Level 2 qualification!

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
