Over 2,000+ Beavers, Cubs and volunteers take part in Fun Days!

Date: 15th Jul 2024 Author: Josh Diamond
This weekend, 13-14th July, Cheshire Scouts’ Forest Camp Activity Centre in Sandiway saw 2,010 Beaver and Cub Scouts, and their leaders arrive raring to go as a team of volunteers put on over 30+ activities for them to enjoy!

Participants visited four activity zones extending across the 20 acre site. From an inflatable assault course and bungee run, to cooking your own hot dog on an open fire, a caving bus, and a dance workshop, young people were given the chance to take part in activities – some for the first time.

For those that enjoy heights, volunteers ran a large climbing wall and a gladiator climb and abseil, alongside a bouldering activity, slack lines and a low ropes course.

Water activities took place on the lake, with bell-boating seeing the Beavers and Cubs learn to paddle a large group – and using their balance to stand up on the boats in the middle of the lake.

There were many targets to aim for, from shooting and archery, to Tomohawks (axe throwing).

Bushcraft, firelighting and a blindfold trail formed a range of traditional Scouting skills, along with a modern twist of making S’mores.

A little rain on Saturday didn’t dampen spirits, with Scouts attending from Alderley and Knutsford, Chester, Ellesmere Port and Neston, Mid Cheshire and Warrington East, bringing over 700+ Beavers and Cubs onto the site for a fun-filled day of adventure.

Macclesfield and Congleton, Mersey Waver, South West Cheshire and Warrington West filled the site on Sunday.

Keep an eye out for our next Fun Day: Squirrels Go Nuts! taking place at Cheshire Scouts’ Tatton Park Activity Centre on September 14th 2024. You can read more here.
