Could YOU be our next County Commissioner?

It’s nearly 12 years since Cheshire had a change of County Commissioner and the Regional Commissioner has decided that now is an appropriate time to start the process to recruit a new County Commissioner for Cheshire.

Graham Phillips has led the County for all those 12 years and it has been agreed that his term of office will end on Sunday 31 January 2021.

The aim is to commence the recruitment process immediately with the aim of confirming the new County Commissioner before Christmas and then to use January for a structured handover.

Dates for your diary

The closing date for applications is 15th November 2020.
The aim is to hold interviews in early December 2020.

Details of how to nominate suitable candidates or to self nominate will be released in the very near future and will be featured in Cheshire Scouting News.

Interested candidates are also encouraged to review Factsheet FS330074. It’ll provide you with more information about the role of the County Commissioner, structured around the six key areas of leadership and management.

Cheshire is one of the largest Scout Counties in the UK and it plays an important part in the Scout Region. This is a great opportunity to lead the County beyond what has clearly been a difficult year and to shape the delivery of Scouting in Cheshire to meet the expected demand for Scouting as we (hopefully) return to more normal times at some point in the future.

Graham commented; “I have had 12 amazing years as County Commissioner and this is now a real opportunity for somebody else to take the lead as Scouting recovers from the effects of Covid-19, looks to develop and innovate plus work with some amazing volunteers and young people”.

Put your phone down and what are you left with? Just teamwork, courage and the skills to succeed.’
