COVID-19 is having a dramatic effect on life in the UK and this includes Scouting locally in Cheshire.

Both the County Team and DC’s have been considering our response to this situation for a number of weeks. To bring everybody into the loop the County Commissioner (Graham Phillips) will host a webinar next Thursday to explain the Cheshire County Scout response.

The event will last about one hour with a further 30 mins for questions if required. During this time the following will be covered;

  1. The financial impact on Scouting Nationally, in Cheshire, in your District and crucially in Scout Groups around Cheshire. Subscriptions and capitation fee for next year will be discussed
  2. Action already taken to help deliver Scouting locally and to secure its financial viability in the future
  3. How the County Training Team has adapted to the current situation
  4. The critical importance of compliance training
  5. Digital Scouting is the new normal and all Groups and Sections can now embrace this method of delivering Scouting
  6. The explosion in social media and how it is helping us to keep Scouting exciting

This is a serious topic but there will be some fun in this webinar with a couple of quiz questions and we suspect you will be astonished at the money potentially available to support Scouting in Cheshire.

The events will contain the same information, so please only book one session and there is a limit on the numbers who can join on our system so its first come for the first 100 booking for each session. Please note you need to Register to attend this event, click here

The BIG Cheshire Share

So one of the things we are learning with a lack of face-to-face Scouting is that there are Leaders (and Explorer Scouts) bursting with skills they want to share, there are Leaders with incredible digital skills producing great online meetings & activities plus Leaders short on time (key workers for example) who would just love to receive a bit of additional help.

So The BIG Cheshire Share has been created to bring together those with time & skills to help those Leaders who are missing one or both of these elements. The aim is simply to include more young people in Scouting at home.

We need YOU to step up to offer help where you can and to be brave and ask for support where you need it. Follow this link to the Cheshire Scouts website to be part of this very special initiative and over the coming days we will start to match groups and individuals together. It’s your chance to be part of The BIG Cheshire Share, and maybe work with a group from a different District.

Practical Skills to Share
If you have a practical skill that can be demonstrated in an online video then fill the form in and let us know. Even if you have no idea how to make the video get in touch because we can short this out.

Digital skills to Share
If you have run programmes online or activities with your Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Explorers and you are willing to share your ideas and digital know how with another group, then get in touch. Perhaps run a join online meeting with another group.

No time or Its a complete mystery to me!
If all this online programming and activity is a mystery to you or you simply don’t have time the get in touch. Working together we can bring Scouting at Home alive to your young people.
