Cheshire Scouts+ #YouShape Month Special

Date: 31st Jan 2018 Author: Dave Hopley

February is #YouShape month

#YouShape Month has come around once again and we want to see all the great things your young people are doing in your groups!

The essence of scouting is in young people thriving with the support of adults, whether it be camping, hiking, mountain biking or climbing. So go ahead and encourage your scouts to plan and run their programmes throughout the next month and through the following year.

Everything from holding a forum to running the night, we want to see your creativity pouring out over social media, so send your pictures, videos and stories over to ed.lunnon@cheshirescouts.org.uk or post on the Cheshire Scouts Facebook page.

We are also reintroducing the YouShape in a Box, alongside the new national resources. So go to the following site; youshape.cheshirescouts.org.uk and request a session and your district youth commissioner and youth forum members will come and run it.

Don’t forget to keep sharing what you’re up to this month using #YouShape on social media, and get your #YouShape badges and wristbands from Scout Shops.

New National Resources

Get young people to voice their thoughts on their Programme through activities such as Edible democracy, Social media stars or Speedy Scouting, all which can be found in the resources below. All resources are linked to badges so they can be run as part of the Programme.

  • Resources for Beavers
  • Resources for Cubs
  • Resources for Scouts
  • Resources for Explorers
  • Resources for Network
  • Extra resources

All of the #Youshape postcards for every section can be downloaded in one resource here.

Wear Their Necker 2018

Wear Their Necker is a fun, exciting and empowering project to celebrate Youth Shaped Scouting. The aim of the project is for adults across the UK to give young people the opportunity to take over and shadow adult volunteer roles. For more information please see ‘Wear Their Necker’.

Put your phone down and what are you left with? Just teamwork, courage and the skills to succeed.’
