🎉 Congratulations & Thanks

Please join us in congratulating Liam, Kathryn, Joe, and Shanna on their appointments! We’re excited for the passion and commitment they’ll bring to this role.

A huge thank you also goes to the other dedicated volunteers who applied for these leadership positions. Your enthusiasm was truly appreciated. We’ll be inviting you to help lead and shape other international experiences, as we aim to offer multiple overseas trips for Cheshire’s Explorer Scouts in 2027.

Let’s make this a truly inspiring year of global Scouting!

🌟 Meet the Team

Liam Foster – Unit Leader

“Cześć! I’m Liam, and I’m thrilled to be the Unit Leader for Cheshire’s 2027 World Scout Jamboree Unit! My Scouting journey began in 2010 as a Beaver with 1st Lostock Gralam, and now I lead a growing Explorer Scout Unit. I’ve held roles including Mid Cheshire Network Lead Volunteer and currently work in the Programme Team focusing on International Activities.

I’ve attended WSJ 2019, completed my Explorer Belt in 2023, led a Patrol to Roverway 2024, and attended Moot in 2025. Being part of WSJ 2027 will be an incredible experience for the 36 young people in our Unit, and I’m immensely proud to lead such a fantastic team through this journey.”

Kathryn Alexander – Deputy Unit Leader

“I joined Scouts in the 90s as a Venture Scout, then became a Cub Leader after university, and spent around 10 years with Scouts. I’m now an Explorer Leader with Endurance Sea Scout Explorer Unit in Mid Cheshire.

I’ve visited two World Scout Jamborees as a day visitor and can’t wait to experience the full event and meet the 36 young people joining us. Outside of Scouting, I’m a children’s occupational therapist in the NHS, and I enjoy sailing, Tae Kwon Do, and crochet.”

Joe Duckett – Assistant Leader

“Hi, I’m Joe! I’m part of the section teams at 12th Widnes Scout Group and Aquila Explorer Scout Unit in Mersey Weaver District. I joined Scouts as a Beaver nearly 20 years ago and have enjoyed international experiences, played in the National Scout and Guide Concert Band, and most recently paraded at Windsor Castle as part of the Colour Party at this year’s Day of Celebration and Achievement.

I’m so excited to be part of this leadership team and can’t wait to help our young people make memories that will last a lifetime!”

Shanna McNamee – Assistant Leader

“Hi, I’m Shanna! I’m the Group Lead Volunteer and Cub Team Leader at 1st Upton-by-Chester Scout Group, and a Wolf ESU Leader in Chester & District. I’ve been in Scouting since I was 14 and love hiking, bonfires, and camping.

Outside of Scouting, I work in museum education, inspiring audiences with hands-on experiments. I’m super excited to take part in the Jamboree, explore new cultures, and meet Scouts from around the world!”
