Welcome to our BTEC Hub

Welcome to the home of the Cheshire Scouts BTEC Level 2 Award in Teamwork and Personal Development in the Community, delivered in partnership with Cadet Vocational College.

This exciting programme gives Explorer Scouts the opportunity to gain a nationally recognised qualification for the skills, experiences and leadership they already develop through Scouts — while also building confidence, employability and life skills for the future.

Whether you’re aiming for university, apprenticeships, employment or simply looking to challenge yourself, this qualification is designed to help you stand out.

Why take part?

The BTEC Level 2 Award is equivalent to two GCSEs and recognises the real-world skills developed through Scouts and other activities.

You’ll gain experience in:

  • Teamwork and leadership
  • Communication skills
  • Volunteering and citizenship
  • Adventurous activities
  • Navigation and problem solving
  • Employability and interview skills
  • Personal development and confidence building

Many activities you already complete through Scouts can contribute towards the qualification, including:

  • Young Leaders
  • Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE)
  • Cheshire Hike
  • Explorer Scout activities and camps

This means you may already be part-way towards achieving the qualification before you even begin.

“Having the BTEC helped get me a job as an apprentice IT support analyst. This is because I was able to present myself as a team player, have self-initiative and confidence.”
