Looking to gain a nationally recognised qualification, develop leadership skills, and strengthen your CV, college, university or job applications?
We’re excited to offer 15–20 places for young people aged 16–18 who have already completed Year 11 to enrol onto the Explorer BTEC qualification.
This is a fantastic opportunity to gain an extra qualification alongside your Scouting achievements and other awards, while building practical skills that will support your future goals.
Why Take Part?
- Gain a recognised BTEC qualification
- Develop leadership, teamwork and communication skills
- Strengthen college, university and job applications
- Build on skills you may already have from Scouting, DofE or Young Leaders
- Work towards an additional achievement alongside your existing awards
How can I achieve a BTEC?
Scouts can use prior experiences—such as the Duke of Edinburgh Award, Cheshire Hike, and the Young Leaders Scheme—to fulfill many BTEC modules. Additional practical challenges will be incorporated into balanced Unit or Network programmes, alongside mandatory workbook tasks.
Am I eligible to take part?
To enrol, you must be 16-18 and already completed yr 11 at school.
If you’re a little young, don’t worry we’ll have another one soon!
Does it cost?
Thanks to government funding, this qualification is available to eligible members of Cheshire Scouts free of charge.
Don’t miss this opportunity to start your journey towards a BTEC Level 2 qualification!
